Many products claim
to prevent Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI's), but ergonomic
products by themselves do not prevent injuries from occurring.
Preventing RSI's has to be approached from several
angles in order to produce positive results and decrease chances
of injury. Example: An ergonomic keyboard may reduce poor wrist
position, amount of pressure required by keys, etc., but it does
not do the work for you. You still have to type, therefore performing
repetitive flexion, or countless hours of exercise to the finger
and wrist flexor muscles, resulting in a "muscle imbalance" and
the onset of injury. (Tissue-to-tissue approximation / Impingement
on one side of the joint and a Tensile Strain / Gapping on the
opposing side of the joint.) Below is
a list of products and training systems to help prevent the
onset of Repetitive Strain Injuries of the upper extremity
(Fingers, hands, wrists, forearms, elbows, upper arms and shoulders.),
including but not limited to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tendonitis
, Trigger Finger, Guyon's Syndrome, Dupuytren's Contracture,
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome, AC-Impingement, Writer's Cramp and
many more!
